Leading to participation in International Olympiads
1. PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY, BIOLOGY & ASTRONOMY : Organized by Indian Associaltion of Physics Teachers (IAPT) with support from Indian Association of Chemistry Teachers (IACT) and the Indian Association of Teachers in Biological Sciences (IATBS)
Stage I - National Standard Examination (NSE)
National Standard Examination in Physics (NSEP)
Part A: 50 multiple choice questions consisting of A1-40 questions, each with only of the four options correct, and A2 - 10 questions, each with any number of the four options correct (all correct options to be marked to get credit).
Part B: 5-6 short answer type questions or problems.
National Standard Examination in Chemistry (NSEC)
The question paper consists of 80 multiple chioce question, each with only one of the four options correct.

National Standard Examination in Astronomy (NSEA)
The question paper consists of 80 multiple chioce question, each with only one of the four options correct.

National Olympiad Programme
To Enroll for NSEs: If your School/ College is a registered centre enroll your name by paying the required fee. The School/ College principal and/ or head of department will give you all necessary instructions pertaining to NSEs. If your school/ college is not registered centre, visit the website http://www.iapt.org.in or contact at Email: iapt@vsnl.net
Syllabus: The syllabus for NSEs is broadly equivalent to the senior secondary level (class XI and class XII) for CBSE. For junior level astronomy, the syllabus is broadly equivalent to secondary school level (class X) of CBSE. This is only a rough guideline and there is no detailed syllabus given for NSEs.
Stage II: Indian National Olympiads in Physics, Chemistry, Biology & Astronomy.
Eligibility: The top 250-300 students are selected for each subjects, on the basis of their national ranking in NSEs and qualify to appear for the Indian National Olympiad Examinations.
Stage III: Orientation Cum Selection Camps (OCSC)
Top 35 students are selected for each subjects and invited for the Orientation Cum Selection camps at HBSCE.
Stage IV: Training on Indian team for Internation Olympiads at HBCSE
Top 4-5 students in OCSC Merit List are selected for rigorous training programme at HBCSE. Resource personas from HBCSE and different institutes across the country train the students.
Stage V: Participation in International Olympiads
Students selected to represent India at the International Olympiads are eligible for prestigious scholarships of the Govt of India for pursuing higher studies and research in science disciplines.
II. MATHEMATICS
Organized by Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), a national Centre of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) Mumbai.
Eligibility: Students of class VIII, IX, X, XI or XIII
Stage I: Regional Mathematical Olympiad (RMO)

Stage II: Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO)
Stage III: International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC)
Stage IV: Pre departure Training Camp for IMO
Stage V: International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO)
